Want a More Unique Cake Stand?

Most cake designers use similar cake stands for the wedding cakes or none at all.  I recommend using a beautiful, unique stand for your work of art that will serve as a showpiece and family heirloom in years to come.  I refer a lovely company for this:  www.ClaraFrench.com.  Not only will you love their beautiful stands, but the music on this site makes you feel like you just arrived in Paris!

Aruna Seth's Top Tips on Choosing your Wedding Shoes

Everyone wants to look like Pippa Middleton these days.  She is the most photographed celebrity out there.  Pippa loves Aruna Seth shoes, and I can see why.  These designer shoes are absolutely gorgeous and perfect for your wedding day.  Aruna has some great tips on purchasing the right shoes for you.  Don't forget that brightly colored bridal shoes are very "in" this year!

1. Choose shoes you love:   Choose wedding shoes that have the wow factor, elegance and comfort. Aruna Seth shoes all  have a special padding which means glamour with no compromise on comfort.

 2. Comfort is key: Wedding shoes should be functional and practical.  Ask yourself: Can I walk in these shoes?  Will they be comfortable all day? Practice walking in your shoes before the big day to break them in.  Our unique padding is made from softest nappa leather giving cashmere like comfort.

3. Take your dress into account: work with your wedding dress to find the perfect shoe and ask for a swatch.  Make sure you purchase your shoes before your first dress fitting so the hem can be the perfect length. If your dress is short then go for a show stealing embellishment at the back of your shoes!

4. Pick the right heel-height: Choose a heel height you’re comfortable with and you are used to wearing. If you normally wear kitten heels stay with this height, or if you love wearing platform heels, stay with these. However, you will also need to consider the height of your groom for your wedding photos.

5.  Choose something extra special: Theme your shoes; match the colour of your shoes to your bridesmaid’s dresses or your wedding flowers. Your photos will look extra special and certain colours such as fuchsia pink and Tiffany blue will really make them stand out. Or pick a shoe colour which compliments your wedding dress, an ivory dress looks ethereal with ivory satin shoes or metallics. A white dress looks great with white or ivory pearlised leather shoes.

Variety is the spice of Instrumentalists at your Wedding

If you are planning to have instrumentalists perform during your ceremony and cocktail hour, consider having them play classical music during your ceremony and contemporary during your cocktail hour.  This will entertain your guests and get them ready for the reception festivities as your musicians switch it up from Beethoven to the Beatles.

Love Chocolate? You can bet your guests do too!

Everyone loves chocolate.  Remember how popular Chocolate Fountains were a few years back at Wedding Receptions?  Often couples will give their guests chocolate candies as favors, but here's an idea:  Chocolate candies in a chocolate covered champagne glass!  How different is that?

If the Bride really wants to "wow" her Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids, she can treat them with chocolate shoes at the Bridal Luncheon.

There are endless fun and interesting things you can do for your Bridal Shower, Rehearsal Dinner or Wedding Reception with the right chocolatier.  Dream Wedding and Event Planners can point you in the right direction for some really unique chocolate favors and gifts.

Wedding Trend Predictions for 2012

Wedding Trends come and go every year while some of them remain for a season or two.  Like cupcakes, strapless gowns and veils without a blusher.  Predictions are just that:  Predictions.  However, some of them are right on, so here are a few:

1.  Colors are all over the place.  Any color palette is in, but some popular combinations are red cherry and lime, soft pinks and mocha, a mixture of oranges and light blue and aqua.

2.  Themed weddings are growing popular again.  The invitations, cake, attire, decor and even dinner can tie into a theme.

3.  Romantic elegance is going to be huge in 2012.   Think crystal chandeliers, silver and gold accents, intimate candlelight, garden weddings and soft, flowing hair.

4.  Pets in the wedding party are growing increasingly popular and fun.  Having your dog walk (or led) down the aisle up to you carrying the rings is fun, entertaining for the guests and personal.  You can even dress your pup in a tuxedo or something that matches the colors of the wedding party.

5.  Colored Bridal Shoes.  The very first popular color for the bridal shoe was blue, but Brides are choosing more colors this year from red to soft pink.  Some brides like to mix it up at the reception with something fun like brightly colored tennis shoes!

6.  After Parties are becoming the rage.  Many couples are choosing to continue partying until the "wee hours" of the morning, often until 3:00 a.m.  Hosting an After Party at a local night club or lounge is becoming more popular than ever.

7.  Dessert Tables are a top pick for the Reception.  Couples are choosing a smaller signature wedding cake to be served on a Dessert Table with an array of other desserts from which to choose.  The guests absolutely love this since some people don't care for (or are tired of) wedding cake.

However, whatever the current trends are, be yourself.  Select the venue, buy the dress and accent your Reception according to what you love, and your wedding day will be one you will always cherish.

Winter Weddings are Beautiful

Dream Wedding and Event Planners is coordinating a winter wedding on January 7, 2012 at the beautiful Colony Club of Detroit, Michigan.  If you are considering having a winter wedding, here are some advantages to consider:
  • You can save a lot of money. With a winter wedding, you can shave a lot off the cost of a traditional summer wedding since winter is considered the "off wedding season".
  • You can get exactly what you want.  You have a much better chance of securing the venue and vendors of your choice.  Since not many people get married in the winter, the same very popular locations and excellent wedding pros (photographers, videographers, etc.) will pass on winter discounts.
  • More of your loved ones may be able to attend.  With a winter wedding, more of your friends and family members will be able to attend.  They will have fewer social commitments than typically during the summer months.
  • Winter weddings are different.  Do you want something unique that your guests will talk about for years to come?  A winter wedding can be breathtakingly beautiful like none other.  You can bring in freshly cut pine trees or have barren trees rented with lit votive candles and crystal strands hanging from them surrounding your guests for a cozy, romantic feel.
